Casumo is a large brand that has been operating in the UK market since 2012. They offer slots, live casino games, and recently obtained a licence to offer a sportsbook. Their site boasts an integration of social and real money play, along with a dedicated mobile app.

1. Is Casumo legit?

Casumo first launched in 2012 with a focus on combining social and real money gambling. The site focuses on providing slots, live gambling, and a sportsbook. The casino is owned by Casumo Services Limited, which is a Malta-based organisation with its headquarters in Swieqi.

The company are not yet publicly traded, so their operations undergo less scrutiny than if they were, and the public cannot yet buy shares in the site. Nevertheless, Casumo is totally legitimate and trustworthy.

A testament to this is their gambling licences. They have licences that allow them to operate in the UK, Malta, Sweden, and Denmark. Gambling licences like this are not easy to get, in particular the United Kingdom Gambling Commission licence.

Casumo is also a multi-award-winning site. They’ve scooped many accolades over the years for the experience they offer players.

However, that doesn’t mean they’ve escaped negative attention. For example, in 2018, Casumo were fined more than £5 million by the UKGC:

The organisation failed to properly comply with social responsibility regulations and allowed a breach of anti-money laundering.

2. Casumo mobile (lots of games?)

Casumo, like all other decent casinos worth paying attention to, has a mobile optimised website. This means you can play their slots and games wherever you are: on the bus, walking to work, or waiting for your friends at a bar.

…and speaking of slots and games – there’s over 2000 of them. That’s a huge haul that very few other sites can get anywhere near, let alone match.

The vast majority of these will be available on mobile devices. A few older games won’t as they use outdated technology, but this shouldn’t really be a problem.

All new releases are available on mobile devices for sure.

3. Casumo bonuses & spins

We currently have an exclusive Casumo welcome bonus for our UK readers:

  • 100% up to £100 + 20 Bonus Spins

New UK customers only. Opt-in required. 20 Bonus Spins on “Sahara Riches Cash Collect” and 100% Deposit Bonus up to £100 on first deposit. Min deposit £10. 30x wagering requirement for Bonus Spins and 30x wagering requirement for Deposit Bonus (game weighting applies). Max £5/spin or £0.50/line or £10/round (live casino). 30 days expiry. Payment method exclusions apply. Play responsibly • www.begambleaware.org • T&Cs apply

So it is a match deposit bonus – meaning anything you deposit is matched in bonus money, up to £100. To claim this bonus, players have to be over 18, like at all UK casinos, and the minimum deposit required to activate the bonus is £10.

The bonus and spins come with x30 wagering requirements. This is not bad. Let’s explain why.

If you get a bonus of £25, then you’ll have to wager £750 (£25 x 30) before you can withdraw it, or any winnings derived from it. Of course, depending on what type of game you’re playing, there will be a maximum bet. So you can’t just lump a huge amount of a few spins on slots to clear the wagering. It has to be done in smaller amounts.

Overall, it’s unlikely that you will win anything from this bonus. So you’re better off thinking about the money and spins as a chance to try out Casumo and their games. But we don’t consider this to be a major disadvantage of Casumo – because most casinos deploy wagering requirements. In fact, most sites include higher wagering requirements – so this is actually one of the better ones we’ve seen.

One positive part of the terms is that this is a PayPal casino bonus. This means you can deposit using PayPal to activate the bonus. Most casino sites don’t allow this. They also have other casino deposit methods too. For example, you can also use them as an instant bank transfer casino to get the bonus. So there’s a variety of options.

Many of these are also casino withdrawal methods that you can use at Casumo. So if you’re lucky enough to win some cash then it can be withdrawn using a variety of methods.

Once you’ve signed up, Casumo give out casino bonuses to existing players. This happens when players fill up their progress bar. Every bet you make contributes to filling the progress bar. Once this has been done, players will get spins, a deposit bonus, or bonus money. Casumo boasts that they give out over 11.5 million in rewards a year.

4. Casumo customer support (help when you need it?)

If players have an issue with a casino it’s important for them to be able to speak to the casino and get help. Casuno offer two standard means of getting in touch:

  • Live chat
  • Email

The live chat feature is real-time, so you’ll get answers immediately. And, it runs 24/7, so you can get help whenever you need it, whatever time of day (or night). If your query isn’t immediate, or you need to send them a large file (for verification processes, for example) then you can use their email instead.

Alongside these methods, you can also use their social media profiles. The live chat functions here will connect you with support agents too.

Lastly, Casumo has a FAQ section which some customers might find helpful. If you’re the sort of person who doesn’t mind digging through the different help pages themselves, then this is fine. However, it’s generally pretty annoying looking for an answer to a specific question, and there’s no reason to think Casumo is an exception to that rule.

5. What do players think of Casumo?

Taking a look at what other customers of Casuno are saying about them will help us shed light on how they’re operating. Put simply, if everyone says they love Casumo, then they must be good. If everyone says they’re rubbish, then they’re probably rubbish.

If we take a look at the Casuno Trustpilot page – Trustpilot is one of the largest consumer review sites in the UK – we can see that their current ratings are not great:

Casumo's TrustPilot score rating

They currently have a ‘bad’ rating of 1.7/5 stars, based upon over a thousand reviews. This is far from glowing, and it doesn’t present Casumo in the best light. However, it’s informative to take a look at the details of most complaints to get a better idea of what’s going wrong.

The most common theme of complaints is verification. For example, here one player complains that they allow you to deposit, but then make over the top demands when it comes to withdrawing and verifying:

Likewise, we can see that other customers make the same complaint that they suspend your account after not presenting ID:

Casumo Casino verification complaint

The problem with verification process complaints is that casinos have to follow strict regulations. The UKGC legislates how casinos have to verify their customer accounts. Because of this, in most cases, the casinos’ hands are tied.

Another important trend we can see with the Casumo reviews is that Casumo reply to many of the reviews, both good and bad. On average they reply to their bad reviews within two weeks of receiving them and reply to 40% of their negative reviews.

With all this being said, we should bear in mind that the majority of reviews are complaints because usually only customers with negative things to say leave reviews. Good experiences don’t usually compel people to leave a review.

Casumo Review Summary

Overall Casumo is a good, reliable site. They offer good games and bonuses to their customers, along with a sophisticated mobile app. Whilst they have been fined in the past, this is doesn’t mean they’re intentionally doing anything bad – many large casinos often run into issues like this.

In particular, we appreciate:

  • Dedicated mobile app.
  • Points-based bonuses for long-term players.
  • Lots of games including a sportsbook.

Casumo isn’t the only option available to UK players, there are plenty of others. So, make sure to check out our list of the best UK online casinos.
